Angela Harrison

Angela’s organisational skills, knowledge and patience have given her the assured ability to plan all aspects of running a kennel to supply the requirements of BAGS (Bookmakers Afternoon Racing) runners to Newcastle for FIVE race meetings each and every week. Additionally she also has to organise the trials, paperwork etc. and assists preparing and travelling with the Open Race Greyhounds all over the country. Angela took over the trainer position from Jimmy earlier this year reversing their official titles.

Jimmy Wright

Following his initial training on the flaps (Independents) in Scotland and a spell in Australia, Jimmy has travelled around many Greyhound kennels in the UK looking after and training Open Race dogs for other trainers. Jimmy has accrued the ability to get the best that is possible out of any greyhound in his care and uniquely can identify injuries quicker than most with the aid of the Thermal Imaging System but also has the knowledge to clear the injuries as quickly as possible.

When Anna left university 13 years ago with a Degree in Sports Science she decided to visit her Aunt in Alnwick where she met with racing greyhounds and the rest they say is history. Anna lives at her own cottage at the kennels and looks after all aspects when Angie and Jimmy and others are away racing. Anna has been with Jimmy and Angie since they took over the kennels and daily she is in there with the others working with and on the dogs to maintain the high levels reached by the kennels. Anna commented on Alnwick Kennels “ Everything that is possible to do to look after the dogs welfare and give them the best opportunity to perform at their best and enjoy what they are doing is achieved with the organisation from Angie and Jimmy .”
Davie Goward
Davie has been in greyhounds for around 25 years mainly on the flapping tracks around the North East. He has been involved at Alnwick for 8 years, full time for 6 years, and enjoys the variety of working at the kennels with traveling and taking care of the dogs at the track. When asked what made Alnwick Kennels he commented “ Organisation and detail designed to take maximum care of all the Greyhounds thereby giving them the chance to show their full potential “.

Ryan joined us in July 2018 and has been a fantastic addition to the kennel. Ryan has been involved with racing greyhounds most of his life, with his family, mainly on the flaps as a youngster.
Since joining our kennels he has proven to be a real asset not just to have a great work ethic but has adapted well to his new learning experience.
Ryan has shown he has the capability to work towards running his own successful kennel and in time with application and dedication he will ultimately achieve this goal.

Ian has been involved in greyhound racing since he was a lad in Fife on the Independents. However he is well known in the greyhound industry as a Head Kennel hand to the legendary Charlie Lister OBE where he worked for in excess of 15 years until Charlie’s retirement in 2018.

Ian brings a breadth of experience and knowledge with him and will provide the kennels with additional insight and assistance in the Open Race scene whilst supporting fully the daily business of supplying graded greyhounds to Newcastle Greyhound Stadium.
